Perticaia - an old Umbrian word for the plough - is the Becca family's estate at Casale, Montefalco, with about 50 hectares of vines planted to Sagrantino, Sangiovese, Colorino, Trebbiano Spoletino and Grechetto. The first wine was the 2003 Sagrantino, made from a single bunch per vine. The estate describes itself as an organic farm that is a model for the territory, and its Sagrantino has won Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri for the 2004-2011 vintages.
