Tasting note
Bright dark red-ruby. Expressive aromas of blueberry, nutmeg, flowers and herbs, with an undertone of graphite; with a much darker nose than usual. Bright and subtle, with stone fruit and spice flavors framed by harmonious acidity. Elegant, with a suave, classically dry finish.

Pietroso sits just outside the walls of Montalcino, on stony ground where vines have grown since 1363. The modern estate was started in the 1970s by Domenico 'Delfo' Berni and is run today by his grandson Gianni Pignattai and family, with son Andrea trained in oenology. Around 6.5 hectares of Sangiovese across five parcels — including a plot on the famed Montosoli hill — are worked by hand, fermented with native yeasts and aged in large oak.
