The story
La Fornace sits on the site of a 1490 brick kiln about 3 km north-east of Montalcino at roughly 400 m. The Giannetti family worked the land as sharecroppers until grandfather Giuseppe bought it in 1964; commercial bottling began with Rosso di Montalcino in 1987 and Brunello in 1988. Fabio Giannetti has run the small family estate since 1998, producing around 18,000 bottles a year from about 7 hectares.
