Le Chiuse
Rosso di Montalcino
Montalcino · Italy·Vintage 2023
Certified organicTasting note
Rosso di Montalcino has the same working procedure as Brunello. The only difference is that Rosso is aged for a shorter time. It is a bright red color. Intense violet, black cherry and licorice on the nose. Then similar flavors in the mouth, with a balsamic note lingering nicely on the youthfully chewy, persistent and strongly spicy (cloves, especially) finish. Interestingly, this enters herbal and develops more and more fruit as it sits in the glass. Aged 14 months of used 20-30hL Slavonian oak.

Le Chiuse
Montalcino, TuscanyFounded 19929 ha of vineyardlechiuse.com
Le Chiuse sits on the north face of the Montalcino hill, on vineyards that belonged to the Biondi Santi family, the house credited with creating Brunello. Simonetta Valiani, Fiorella Biondi Santi's daughter, and her husband Nicolò Magnelli began bottling under the Le Chiuse name in the early 1990s, and their son Lorenzo has run the cellar since 2006. The estate farms its 100% Sangiovese Grosso (BBS11 clone) organically, certified since 2005, with long ageing in large Slavonian oak.
