The estate A wealthy Florentine family built L’Antica Fornace (the ancient kiln) in the 16th century in the medieval village of Castagnoli, near Gaiole in Chianti, the heart of today’s Chianti Classico region. The Fornace changed ownership several times over the centuries until Loris Cantalici purchased the site in 1972. Brothers Carlo and Daniele preserved the historic site and integrated it into their winery when they began their winemaking journey in the late 1990’s.

Organic Tasting Notes Deep ruby red color and intense, with garnet reflexes. The nose presents a great olfactory fullness with hints of berries and ripe plums, accompanied with pleasant hints of spices, sweet tobacco and chocolate. It‘s a structured wine that is in the mouth opens with a soft entrance and fresh, evolving, supported by ripe tannins in a pleasantly fruity and persistent, with a return of fruity notes.

Producer

The Cantalici family's home is L'Antica Fornace, a 16th-century kiln in the hamlet of Castagnoli near Gaiole in Chianti, bought by Loris Cantalici in 1972. His sons Carlo and Daniele began making their own wines in 1998 after years working in Chianti Classico vineyards, and since 2015 the estate has farmed organically across parcels spread between Gaiole, Radda and Castelnuovo Berardenga.
