Winemaker
Dieter Sölva (cellar master)

Alto Adige is a wine-producing province of northern Italy in the Southern Limestone Alps, Dieter Sölva is a young winemaker from the tiny village of St. Nikolaus, high up on the west side of a majestic valley that leads north through the Dolomites. The altitude of these vineyards gives the wines an excellent backbone of acidity. It is very typical of the region that the wines are impeccably clean (Dieter is a graduate of the famous enology school at San Michele, as was his father before him).

Dieter’s Kerner is a green-yellow color, elegant fruit notes of ripe peach and apricots. Mineral with good body, pepper and spice. It has a full taste with a persistent, mineral ending.

Producer

Niklaserhof is the Sölva family's winery and farm-holiday estate in St. Nikolaus above Kaltern. Founded by Josef Sölva, it is now run by his son Dieter as cellar master with Dieter's sons Michael and Maximilian in the vineyards. Seven hectares spread over seventeen sites on calcareous soils around Lake Kaltern give thirteen wines, from Pinot Blanc and Kerner to Lagrein and Kalterersee.

Tasting note

Dieter’s Kerner is a green-yellow color, elegant fruit notes of ripe peach and apricots. Mineral with good body, pepper and spice. It has a full taste with a persistent, mineral ending.
